We are now open to applicants for the 2010 JT3 Artist Awards.
We will accept applications from March 8th to May 14th, 2010 (deadline extended) . Applicants will be
accepted from residents of Brooklyn, NY and the Washington, DC Metropolitan area (District of Columbia;
Prince Georges County, MD; Montgomery County, MD;
Arlington County, VA; Fairfax County, VA).

Eligible artists are aspiring screenwriter/directors who demonstrate
talent, passion, work ethic, and a deep-seated need to make art,
but have room to grow and need this grant to help make that growth
possible.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- United States citizens
- Ages 18-32
- Residents of Brooklyn, NY or the Washington, DC Metropolitan area (District of Columbia; Prince Georges County, MD; Montgomery County, MD; Arlington County, VA; Fairfax County, VA) for at least one year by May 14th, 2010 (deadline extended)
Applicants are required to submit the following no later than May 14th, 2010 (deadline extended):
- Completed application in MS Word 97-2003 or MS Word 2007 format
- A personal essay
- A resume
- A list of any additional completed works or works in progress the applicant would like to have considered as part of their body of work; works are not limited to screenplays and films
- Proof of residency
- Signed release form
- A screenplay – short or feature length
- A short film of no more than 30 minutes written and directed by the applicant
The application, personal essay, resume, list of additional works, screenplay,
and film
files under one (1) Gigabyte, must be sent electronically
through our APPLICATION SUBMISSION PAGE.
The proof of residency, release form and films over one (1) Gigabyte
must be submitted by mail to The Jesse Thompkins III Foundation, PO Box 1037, Tenafly, NJ 07670.
All applications and supporting materials must be submitted by May 14th, 2010 (deadline extended) .

At the end of the application period, the review panel will evaluate each application and all supporting materials in detail. The panelists will then offer their recomendations to the Board of Directors who will approve the awardees.
Criteria for analysis:
- Overall excellence of applicant’s submitted film, screenplay, and personal essay
- Applicant’s intentions for his/her future work
- Applicant’s commitment to their craft
- Applicant’s appreciation for the collaborative aspects of filmmaking
- Applicant’s film will be reviewed for its concept, directing, acting, cinematography, editing, and overall ability to tell a story effectively
- Applicant’s screenplay will be reviewed for its originality, story, characterizations, dialogue, format and style, and structure
Notification of awards will be no later than September 20th, 2010. All applicants will be notified of the results.
